Sony's that are a few years old are notorious for gradually not reading even
brand new disks and then giving up teh ghost altogether...Pioneer makes a
great player around $100, the DV-285. The players in the $40-$80 price
range, seem to play everything, but they are total crap if you care anything
about picture or sound quality, and most of them have absolutely lousy
remotes. And if they last a year, you'll be lucky...One thing I do
recommend no matter what player you get, is clean every rental b4 putting it
in your player. Your player will last longer, and your chances of getting a
disk that is totally unplayable also drops...
