From my own personal experience, S-VHS recorders do not play back VHS tapes
with results superior to regular VHS playback. Indeed, of my 3 S-VHS
recorders, 2 did a notably inferior job of playing back VHS. If all your
tapes are VHS, don't waste your money on S-VHS.
