They spend the whole friggin' show hyping the appearance of this girl.
Someone's charged with picking a mic the guest is going to use. Said mic is
going to be routed to the board and someone is supposed to be responsible
for making sure said mic works, and its channel is live and routed to the
broadcast output, yes?

So how does the talent pick up the mic and there's nothing there?? They're
not mic'ing a symphony, it's one kid and one lousy mic. You can all but hear
the engineer knocking their coffee cup over fumbling for the fader. Come on
people, jeezus, this isn't some cable access show, it's hugely popular show
on a major network. They did the same thing to her on America's Got Talent.
What the hell are they paying these people for? Where are they getting their
production crew from, the day labor pool?

When something like this happens, do asses get chewed?
