What is a "PC caddy"? Are you talking about a removeable disk drive
 tray?

Wouldn't there me possible incompatibilities with the formatting of
the DVDR HDD compared to the requirements of the PC operating system?

It takes an act of God to install a new HDD in a Windows computer
straight off the shelf, much less installing one that has been
formatted in a completely different operating environment.
