I didn't actually wait for the whole thing to load on Youtube, but
either the streaming audio is so bad it's not obvious or your hearing
is so shot you can't tell the difference, but the sound isn't "there"
at the beginning in an acceptable form by any stretch of the
imagination. The only thing that's there at the beginning is whatever
reflected sound of her voice is reaching other mics in the studio.
It didn't take several seconds for "the hand mic to take over" you say
as if it's the fault of the mic or SOP, it took a full 10 seconds from
the time she started singing for whatever person(s) responsible for it
to be on in the first place to get their act(s) together and get it up
to full level.
Here's a wmv with reasonably clear sound. If you want to continue to
insist this is no big deal, please post the name of your company so
folks can see a demonstration of what constitutes "not quite perfect"
to you and what they likely can expect from such a "pro". Or would you
like to admit you've just been flapping your gums to feel the breeze?
