Thank you for your advice. I might be taxing the machines too much, but that
doesn't explain the two I had that only lasted a month. The VCR part of both
of them still works, but one DVD doesn't even play any disks and the other
will not record, but will play. I have a DVD player that I have used TONS of
times and it works great.

As for the UPS, I have one on both machines so I don't think that power
spikes are the problem.
