First off - I'm a DVD editing noob!!!

I've been researching my DVD editing problem and I'd like a few
recommendations.

Ok, I've got VOB files ripped from a DVD. There are several languages I
can choose for subtitles and I'd like to force one to show
automatically - so far no problem. Now, what I need to do is edit out
several minutes of the movie that I don't want. When I tried to do that
with VideoReDo, I completely lost my subtitles for that particular VOB
file.

Solution needed: How can I edit my VOB file while retaining the synced
subtitles? Right now I'm thinking I'll have to convert the DVD to a
single AVI file, add the extracted subtitles and then edit the
resulting file = TOO MUCH WORK! (and time I don't have)

I'd appreciate any suggestions.
