Thanks for the tips.
Now connected Freeview box>DVD combi>TV and DVD combi now recognises
Freeview box and cable box.

TV has only one Scart socket.

To prevent this situation could I use a 2into1 scart lead that would enable
me to connect 2 devices to the TV?

My problem now is getting the sound in sync. When played through TV
speakers sound is in sync. When sound is played from DVD or Freeview box
through stereo unit it is out of sync.
