A friend who runs Tokyo's largest foreign production company tells me that
the majority of his commercial clients these days are requesting DVCam from
the Z1. I did shoots for him recently for Sony (Playstation) and a "day in
the life" of rising rock star Teddy Geiger for Columbia, and in both
instances the clients specifically asked for the Z1 over Betacam SP/SX. It
is lots cheaper than Digibeta and apparently the quality is up to spec,
althoug to be honest I still see a lot of difference between the SD picture
of a decent 2/3" chip camera (even the old Sony 300 and the Ikegami HV-55)
and those of the small cameras such as the Z1 and the Panasonic.
