I had HD that used to exhibit that problem. I would open the puter case
and rotate the exposed end of the axle of the disk with my finger (thumb
worked best). That would get rid of the "stiction" (starting friction)
and it would be OK for several months. I suspect that dropping the HD is
a bit more severe.
