Then what do original equipment manufacturers like Dell do if there is
no listing of the item on Sony's product list?

I am not an idiot. The unit cost $99 and I was willing to take a
chance on it. I had no way to know that Cyberhome would go out of
business.

Please provide references to felony counts. All I have ever seen is
civil actions.

Then why did I receive direct factory support as an end user for all
those other OEM products over the years?
Directron did take the unit back, so all ended well. But I won't ever
buy anything from Sony again.
BTW, I have discussed this incident with several other people who do
have the expertise to make credible comments, and everyone of them
agrees with me that Sony is obliged to support its products.

Govt is an insult to human dignity. With or without govt,
you would have good people doing good things and evil
people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil
things, that takes govt. Govt is the root of all evil.
