Yup, both of those would be my number one choices to check first.

I had something similar a few weeks ago. Turned out to be the hard
drive. I thought I'd lost it, but did actually manage to salvage the
drive. Luckily the system was on a seperate HD and unnafected.

Yup, good advice, plus check the fans are working.

Funny you should say that. I just used XP repair pro on one of my
machines. I was staggered at the number of errors it found!
