I also have to recommend Final Cut Studio. Getting away from
individual preferences and a variety of solutions which will do the
job, FCS offers you a very good packaged deal on the suite, the ability
now to run well on laptops or non-PCI desktops and an extremely wide
base of support due to the popularity of the program with not only
independents but higher-end facilities. I prefer the Mac OS interface
personally but objectively speaking the platform overall is very stable
due to OS X overall and the integration of hardware, software and OS.
There are a number of good solutions for either platform but this is
the way the industry is going and there are compelling reasons why.
