Not quite, there would be a user's manual inside.

There is a lot more to a DVDR than just the handful of components I
enumerated. Actually you could use a personal computer mainboard,
power supply and a settop cabinet. Just make sure to get one with a
fan because excess heat will kill everything inside.

All the parts are available, however, they are not quite ready for
prime time. Maybe next year at this time they will be.

For those interested in building a PVR, I ran across a book at
