Not so fast, my young apprentice! ;)

704 pixels (or 702, opinion is divided) is the width of a 4:3 picture
- it's the direct digital equivalent to the width of an analogue 4:3
picture. The remaining pixels are the equivalent of blanking in
analogue video.

You are quite at liberty to bring your picture out to the full 720
pixels available, but then the aspect ratio will be approx 1.36 rather
than 1.33.

So now you know! :)
