AQUARIAN AGE SIGN FOR EVOLUTION COLLECTION (reviewed by Brett Cullum,
overall score 85/100):
"It's interesting to look at Aquarian Age as an illustration of exactly
what an ADR house like ADV does when it works on a series. If you watch
an episode in the original Japanese, you'll notice a slightly different
tone from the American dub. The Japanese series has a more mournful,
dispirited quality, while the English actors give the characters a
little more life and wonder. Both versions are equally compelling, but
it's fun to compare and contrast how the vocal directors in the two
countries coach their actors to create two distinct versions of the
same story."

"I haven't seen the first Ghost Watcher so I won't be able to comment on
the difference between the two. But having seen the sequel, I can say
that if I were forced to watch the predecessor I may in fact not hate

WEATHER REPORT GIRL (reviewed by Geoffrey Miller, overall score 68/100):
"Japan isn't exactly Saudi Arabia. However, it's impossible to dismiss
the way Keiko brazenly displays traits associated with modern
masculinity: sexual freedom and openness, a ruthless hunger to climb the
corporate ladder, and a dominating attitude. Could Keiko be the
embodiment of Japanese men's fear (and perhaps desire) of a woman
liberated and empowered by the feminist thought of Western culture?"
