We each have our favorites, eh? Mine is surely "Cabaret." I've worn
out 2 VHS tapes and one DVD, though I doubt it was worn vs. defective.
So, I've bought it at least 4 times. I especially enjoy watching it
with someone else who may, or may not, have seen it before but, having
done so, failed to notice the magnificence of Fosse's direction and
choreography. I don't know how much he may have influenced the flow
of the story line and the integration of the vignettes with it, but
the movie was so many times better than the stage play as to certainly
have earned him his Oscar and his place in the, as yet non-existent,
directors' hall of fame.

Yes, I'd agree that it is worth buying one's few hundred favorite
movies that have made it to DVD - as it would be far more inconvenient
and expensive to rent them each time the urge to view them arose.
Never-the-less, even this number is grossly inadequate for a movie
fan-atic! Thank you cable TV premium channels;-0)

However, rental has its place in that some excellent flicks which have
not made it to cable (or have played and may not play again in my
lifetime;-) are simply not in my top several hundred - though
certainly worth a single or even repeated view.

For some reason "Braveheart" is not among them! Like, what else was
there beside the wooden spear subterfuge by the blue men (man)?
