I own many PAL DVDs, and even the ones that have been "pitch corrected"
sound nothing like the original audio.

As irritating as you find 3:2 pulldown, that's how irritating PAL
speedup is to people who've been raised watching NTSC.

Furthermore, in my experience people watching NTSC content on a European
television, even one supposedly compatible with NTSC, are not getting
the best results from the format. 3:2 pulldown artifacts are exaggerated
on them. Watching on a true NTSC television will give you better
results. If implemented properly, 3:2 pulldown is hardly more
objectionable than the inherent judder you'll get in any 24fps material
 in the first place.
