That's just the contentious assertion of diabolical aplomb. Who invented
HD, or colour, or video or even TV itself ? The fact that NTSC was the
first regularly broadcast colour service does not mean it was the first
colour technology. It was actually the Germans who held off committing
their earlier colour technology to the commercial market place until
they had it right, with PAL.
The first TV transmissions that had any sort of viability were those of
John Logi-Baird, a Scotsman, which resulted in the Worlds first regular
TV transmission service by the BBC in the 1930's. There were slightly
earlier versions of TV but the image quality of all the others were
totally unusable.
Again with HD formats, several organisations have been working along
parallel time lines since the earliest days. The main difference between
the products evolved by the Japanese (the primary source of HD
technology by about a trillion miles) and Europeans, compared with
American companies, is that in the Japanese and European companies
practically all those involved have been actually Japanese and
Europeans, whereas in the American companies most of the key technical
developers have been Europeans. In fact throughout the great age of
American technical achievement an inordinate percentage of the actual
achievers, in almost every discipline, have been bought in from Europe.
From fuel cells and aircraft designs of all types and at every
generation, yep that's absolutely right, through jet engines and
automotive engineering, through to advanced medical science and space
exploration technologies, some would be surprised to learn that most of
the original and key conceptual invention has emerged from Europe.
That's just a snippet to be getting on with.
You want to explore this in more detail punk, go right ahead and make my
day !
