No, I don't think you are!
The best solution is to purchase a well designed drive enclosure with
good ventilation and fans. The fill it with enterprise class drives.
The drives were actually designed to tolerate the extra vibration from
other drives in close proximity, designed to work on a 24/7 duty cycle,
have a much lower failure rate and have long warranty periods usually 5yrs.
A 1 TB SATA enclosure from GTECH costs $999 while purchasing 2 500 GB
RE2 drives ($540)from Western Digital and a high quality enclosure
($200) totals $740.
G-TECH also give you a generous 2 year warranty, wow that's three years
less than buying the drives yourself!!!
Why pay more for much less??
