There's someone around here (possibly Orchard Supply Hardware, but I
really don't recall) who runs a TV commercial that sounds a lot like
your setup :-)

It's kind of like this: the guy is presumably checking his work, so he
turns on the living room light and the TV turns on, so he tries to turn
off the TV and the water runs in his sink. He turns that off and the
garage door opens - you get the idea.

Obviously, the idea is that if you had dealt with the advertiser,
things wouldn't've happened like that...
