Line-in requires a mic preamp. The Samson C01U costs less
than an equivalent microphone plus the cheapest preamp or
mixer you can use. If you want to expand beyond a single mic
and voice-overs, then yes, you maybe should consider something
more, but your stated requirements didn't include anythine more.
Note that the sound "card" in most computers is not that great.
That is why many people use an external box that has the mic
preamps AND the analog-to-digital converter all together to
plug into the USB. For example, the M-Audio MobilPre USB
http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MobilePreUSB-main.html
But that is $150 + annother ~$100 for a microphone vs.
$70 for the Samson USB microphone.

I wouldn't spend *anything* on a microphone until I could prove
that a $2 "computer mic" wasn't adequate for whatever your
requirements are. For example eBay # 8793279501
But don't tell my friends over on the audio newsgroups.
