This S-VHS camcorder is still a workhorse. Delivers over 400 lines of
resolution in S-VHS format, yet tapes can be viewed and edited on any
VCR. Batteries are still available. Output to any TV, deck or other
recorder via standard S-VHS cable or as component audio and video via
the included a/v adaptor. Adaptor also offers S-VHS in and out. I have
fed images directly into my mini-DV camera for immediate editing on
I-Movie or Final Cut Pro. A cheap a/v cord will let you input and output
to almost any decent mini-DV camcorder and bridge the gap between S-VHS
and digital as I do with my Canon GL-2. Most digital cameras will allow
you to record from an analog S-VHS camera or deck, or pass through to a
computer for editing. You may not need a capture card. The S-VHS
connection in and out lets you use the camera as a high end deck. The
a/v adaptor offers audio in and out and component video in and out for
total flexibility. One of the most versatile camcorders I have ever
owned. Have gone totally digital and this is my last analog unit and I
have used it for a 2 camera shoot with my GL2.
