DVDs have 480 vertical lines of resolution, no more. HD displays and upscaling
players can scale this to higher resolutions (sometimes providing a very
impressive image) but the original is still only 480 lines. A built-in player
has no advantage over an external upscaling player, presuming the connection
is DVI/HDMI (or component where upscaling is allowed).
