Then it would seem to be a problem with your sound card driver. You
might check in Multimedia (in Control Panel) under the "Audio" tab and
see if you have more than one "preferred device"; if so, try changing
it. If not - assuming this is a recent problem - reinstalling the
card driver would be in order. If it has always been a problem, then
you'll need updated drivers from the manufacturer's site.
