What I was referring to is that we could buy a Sony monitor a decade
ago that had a PAL tuner and CRT scan on it. At that time, there was
no attraction worth the additional cost.

So what if now an R2 of some flic has a little more crap on it? If
the whole film is there, that is the main requisite.

The best solution is to have whatever monitor we have, and make the
players do all the conversion. A multi-in, multi-out player.

Pretty much a no brainer.

Problem is that interferes with all the HDMI, etc. content security
goals. So much for that. All magic-carpet-rides (multi-converters)
will not be legal.
