I bought a Presidian DVD Recorder (PDR-3222) from Radio Shack. I am using
the composite jack to connect it to my TV. Everything shows up dim - on
screen menus, tuner, DVDs - Everything! I took it back and got another one.
I had them try it in the store and it was fine. I bring it home and it is
dim as well. When I connect it to my VCR input and the VCR out to this same
port on the TV, it looks good. I can't keep it this way because when I play
movies the macrovision copy protection will make the brightness fade in and
out.

My VCR and other DVD player work fine on this same composite video port of
the TV. I'm at a loss to understand why this DVD recorder works on the line
in of the VCR and on other TV's line inputs, and my other devices work on my
TV.

Anyone out there understand the signals on the line in? Is there some sort
of gain control that the DVD recorder bypasses?

Thanks for any clues.
John
