But my point has been proven!

It's not masturbation or measurebation or whatever you want to call it.
A compressed and non-compressed audio or video CAN be identified. But
people accept it. Even MP3 was accepted by listeners. But there are
limits to what people will PAY and for what.

Perhaps what we are discussing here is whether compression is alright
or not. I think it's fine as long as you don't make it show its teeth.
If we are in the recording business (and I think this group intends to
be) we should be looking for the best quality money can buy.

If you can get away with HDV's 15 GOP and not show the problems it may
show, then it's fine. MPEG compression in audio is audible, have no
doubt. That you can get away with it on many interviews? Of course. But
if you are not careful MPEG will show up as a mediocre sound.

I did discuss this question with Ty, and he said that what I was
proposing was against the established ways. On what I think he is
right.

So I am probably in the middle of two points of view, though perhaps
proposing a mid term that may satisfy both, if they are willing to try
it.

Anything else we may discuss will probably be masturbation...
