I recently purchased a 16:9 plasma TV. As this has a 1.78 aspect ratio
where are the "black bars" that should be at the top and bottom of the
screen (very thin, admittedly) when I play a 1.85 DVD? Instead, the entire
screen is filled with an image, presumably cutting off a sliver of image on
each side. There is no adjustment on any of the 3 DVD players I've tried,
or on the TV, itself, to "fix" this.
