It sounds like a heat related problem, causing the shadowmask in the
tube to warp slightly and allowing the green phosphor pixels to "see"
a bit of the red and blue electron guns and vice-versa.
Quite often this is because the TV is set by default with its contrast
flat-out. This causes a very bright image, but produces more heat and
thus more potential for warping. It will also mean that the beam will
be less focussed and produce a softer picture and a shorter tube life.
Try turning down the contrast to something sensible (like halfway) and
see how you get on.
