And Sony brought out the first good camcorder for home use.
And then there was the Walkman which changed portable music in ways
not envisioned. Their 'watchman' was the first small hand held TV
receiver - that actually used a tube with the neck bent at a 90
degree angle. They made home tape recording popular with the
Superscope brand in the US that they had a big hand in, and
if you look at the history of Sony, it was a small company that had
to fight to get it's idea accepted with the early tape recorders,
and suprirsed all after that.
The last few years however have not been good ones for Sony - but
they changed the way home entertainment was view in the US as
least.
Even for the first few years of the VHS the average person refered
to ALL videorecorders as betamax.
