Both the DVD player and the DVB set-top box are likely to output RGB
signal through their SCART sockets. (RGB is usually the best analogue
signal format you can get from a standard-definition video signal source
intended for use in a PAL country.)
The front-panel AV connectors do not usually accept RGB signal. At
worst, there is only a composite video input (a yellow "RCA" or "phono"
connector). At best, there is an s-video input (a 4-pin mini-DIN
connector) next to it. Using either of them would make the picture
quality worse than it is via an RGB-capable SCART socket.
