Thanks for that Mike.

I thought resetting it might not fix DVD playing but it might give me
back the CD playing option at least. Unless it's something with the
mechanism but the lens would play as good as it plays now. Am I wrong?
Is it possible to reset it without calling Lite-On customer support?

You suggest to buy a sort of DVD cleaner pack? the mechanism is OK for
DVD so it is OK too for CD I guess, no?
