No need to contact Sony, they'll just pass the story around their support
group and laugh.
The OP has somehow formatted his DVD for packet writing. Probably done
automatically upon inserion.
He/she has Sonic DLA, Nero InCD or Roxio DirectCD installed and it did the
formatting behind his/her back.
The used space is simply reserved for the UDF file system to keep track of
files on the disc.
The OP needs to use his/her DVD writing softwares "Erase Disc" function in
order to make the disc usable for his/her intended purpose.
They might also want to remove (it can be an aggravating task) their packet
writing software.
