I have not opened one of these (I do own one which is still working OK). I
have read messages posted by folks who have replaced the drive mechanism,
and done other stuff inside, on the CD-Freaks forum for Lite-On DVD
recorders. You might want to register and post a question there as there
are a lot of people knowledgeable about the innards of those machines:
