In general, installing codec packs is a really bad idea, especially if
you intend MS media player to work predictably afterwards, then it
becomes a *really* bad idea.
GSpot can tell you what codec is needed to decode an AVI file :
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
Stick with that, identify the 4CC (4 character code of the codec),
google for the 4CC and just get the ones you need (and no more)
