You use direct cables for recording and watching tv channels through
your dvd=recorder. If you're in Britain/europe you use scart leads
most of all and I think in america you would use RCA leads. This
by-passes the dvd recorder's television tuner, but you will have to
switch the recorder to whichever input you choose for the set top
box... usually av1 or av2 unless you connect at the front panel.
