No surprise there as the Sonys are designed for DVCAM and miniDV.
You need to make a menu change for your Panasonic deck to be able to
play miniDV tapes as the default is, of course, DVCPRO. I just had a
look through the operating manual for this deck and it covers it on
page 29. It's #107 under the Operations Menu (setting 0000 is the
default for DVCPRO, 0001 is DV mode and 0002 is DVCAM mode). HTH.
Remember to switch it back to DVCPRO after you're done capturing.
