Thats fine, but if you want to drop me a line, a working email address
for me is on my site. I can give you the latest (full) version of my
filters that way, rather than the ones via my site, which i've stripped
down for public consumption.

Yeah - its _very_ prevalent, and some people just don't get a clue no
matter how much you try to explain things to them.

One woman I tried to help out once told me that she paid $30 for a
program on the basis it said she had infected .gif files, so it *must*
be right - this was a couple of days _after_ I told her where to find
legit stuff :-}

PS: if you have any ideas / suggestions for stuff I can add to it, feel
free to blast 'em across - part of the problem is the whole spyware /
malware scenario is now so complex its hard to even begin trying to help
people get a handle on what can be done without their knowledge.

I can probably resolve / clean up 90% of infested machines with the free
stuff I mention, but new stuff comes out so fast nowadays... I don't
claim to be an expert in the field, i've just had quite a lot of
practice - and it got to the point where I was repeating myself several
times a week to colleagues on how to do things - it was easier to throw
my assorted notes onto a webpage and let them read it for themselves :-}

SmitFraud (the desktop hijacker) was one of the most tenacious phuckers
to remove that i'd come across after CoolWebSearch (thankfully someone
had written a script to overwrite any hacked files with clean copies),
but there's a new one I encountered a week or so ago that i've forgotten
the name of - and it was worse :-}
