I'm only able, Bill, to post publicly available information. I'm not
permitted to discuss info under NDA, for example, which can be a
problem at times, which is I try to avoid it (usually). I posted the
information that I did simply in an attempt to "fill in the blanks",
since specific model numbers and associated costs weren't mentioned
previously in the thread. The prices I quoted are all U.S. MSRP
(should have mentioned that). I'm sure that the OP, or anyone else for
that matter, can check their favorite reseller/provider to determine
street prices, although in this case a package deal with special
pricing might be warranted.

As stated above, I was merely attempting to provide specific model
numbers and prices, mainly so that others reading the thread would
know what was being discussed. I'm not sure what new information you
might be seeking (the current status of JVC's financial viability,
perhaps?).

The GY-HD250U is, after all, a 1/3-inch 3-CCD product, so even if the
better grade Canon or Fujinon lenses are used, one still isn't going
to get 2/3-inch quality.

The other consideration with JVC gear, known as Junk Video Corporation
by some, is durability of the equipment, and therefore its longevity,
especially in an access environment where, depending upon how the
facility is run and the procedures in place, access producers might
have actual access (no pun intended) to the equipment and might not
treat it with as much care as regular staff members. Personally, I
treat all of my gear with great care, so even the few pieces of JVC
equipment that I've owned over the years have held up quite well.
OTOH, the GY-HD250U is metal, not plastic, so potentially it will hold
up better to physical abuse.

Although the OP seems to have a decent budget, based upon the sheer
dollar amount, it wasn't indicated exactly how many cameras, VTRs,
etc., were required. Also, nine years is a long time, and there will
be changes in the technology in that time which are difficult if not
impossible to predict today.
