I was wondering if it was just me that couldn't understand what all
the fuss was about. The nuances under discussion are as nothing
compared with the gross distortions and impairments perpetrated by
modern broadcasting techniques in general. None of this business of
"lip-syncing" and "microphone technique" seems to be a problem at the
Prom Concerts. Call me old-fashioned, but I can't see what's wrong
with the simple technique of putting a bunch of performers who can
actually play instruments and sing in front of a mic rig that has been
done by professional technicians, and letting them get on with it. Of
course, you need artistes with real talent for that. Maybe that's the
stumbling block.
Rod.
