Keep them out of the sunlight. If the bottom becomes lightly scratched,
try cleaning with Pledge, if that doesn't fix it then try buffing lightly
with toothpaste or plastic polish, if that doesn't fix it then look around
for a local shop that sells used CDs/DVDs and ask if they will resurface
for a small fee. If the top becomes scratched then it's over, just toss
it.

Otherwise, besides the additional wear n tear it isn't going to hurt the
disks.
