I don't think infringement is ever beneficial to a copyright owner. If a
copyright owner wants uncontrolled and uncompensated distribution of his
work, he can license it as such (and a lot of material is licensed this
way). First sale doctrine, and other statutory exceptions to infringement
liability, contemplate benefit to the public, not to the copyright owner.

In the west, copyright is afforded as an incentive to creation. Most
content creators would regard sanctioned infringement as a disincentive to
creation.
