I wasn't filming, but last summer I was helping out a friend doing an
underwater shoot for a documentary he was working on (I was managing
some lights, nothing too exciting). Anyhow, a seal failed on the camera
housing and as a result an ~$3000 camera, plus the electronic controls
and external viewing screen in the housing, were fried. Total
replacement cost was somewhere in the realm of $5000, and we lost the
entire dives footage...
