That's what's meant by "burning".

You may have to close the session to get them to work.
Also, pay close attention to the book type. You should be able to
change it to "DVD-ROM" which is the most compatible book type.
Each combination of disc, burner, burning software and player is
unique and you can't draw any generalities. You must experiment. It's
getting better but if your equipment is older, you will likely run
into some incompatibity issues.

Do a *full* erase and see if the disc works. You will have to copy the
existing content to the hard disk so you don't lose it.
Try a new disc. A year's use is long, despite the claim of 1000
erasures. Some people only get 10 erasures.
