I have three versions of a Disney parade on tape from different vantage
points made with an 8mm camcorder, later transferred to VHS. I recently
captured them from VCR > Digital8 camcorder passthru > h/d. I find that
when lining them up based on a common audio event at the beginning of each,
they match up for the entire 30 minutes to the point where the intricate
choreographed drum cadences match. I would have thought this shouldn't be
the case, though it certainly makes editing a lot simpler.

This parade ran to a sound track - I assume digital - as well as the live
drummers so it was exactly the same every time, but shouldn't there be some
drift because they were recorded and then duped on consumer analog gear?
Does running it through the digital camcorder have any bearing on this or is
this just a fluke?

Thanks.
