Could you please explain what you mean by "finalize"? How do you do
that e.g. with Roxio Toast or similar software?

This is similar to a problem I am also having with a Philips (see my
post "Problem with DVD-R/RW discs"). Are you sure your model can handle
DVD-R discs? Maybe you should also check your User Manual.
