Last week I plugged my Canon XL2 into my Mac Ti book via firewire and
recorded a couple of short videos into iMovie HD.

I'm wondering if anyone has done something similar but used the PCMCIA card
slot on the laptop and a PCMCIA to Firewire card to feed the video to an
external firewire drive.
