thanks for clearing that up Kim-

The one DVD+R that I did burn from it, I could plainly see it filled up
the entire DVD+R disk with burned audio on the disk- it didn't leave
all this unrecorded time wasted

as I switch the speed settings when moving a HDD file to the DVDR
drive, I can see how the slower speeds allow more recording time on the
DVD+R blank.

on other works, if there's only 30 minutes left on the +R disk, and I
try to move a 40 minute music album file to it, it says "will not fit
on this disk"-

then if I bump down the resolution to the next slowest or 2nd slowest,
then it will accept it

it's very similar to moving files from a folder to MusicMatch Jukebox
in Windows, to burn CD-R disks in WAV or MP3

the beauty of it is, no keyboard or mouse or typing needed- just use
the remote and away it goes

this makes me want a CD recorder as well- using the computer to make
CD's is just a PITA, with the TV screen and DVDR I can watch a show
while it's recording on the other input- and switch back and forth to
check it- with no dropouts or clicking effects in the recording
