 I'm not sure of this, but I remember a discussion about downsampling on
 the Oppo 970 in AVSForum.

 I kinda remember someone posting that if you use the HDMI output and set
 the video resolution to 1080 then the audio is not downsampled. I could
 be wrong, and the thread is very long (now over 110 pages) but you might
 want to check there.
